With JPMorgan, Google, Visa and the Inter-American Development Bank among the institutions involved, Semana Dominicana 2026 put the Dominican Republic’s investment opportunities in front of major U.S. business and financial players.
The 34th edition of Semana Dominicana en los Estados Unidos concluded Thursday in New York after bringing Dominican business leaders and U.S. companies, financial institutions and government agencies together around trade, investment, nearshoring, energy, technology, infrastructure and capital markets.
The discussions went beyond traditional trade, with officials and business leaders highlighting the need to turn the relationship with the United States into concrete investment and business opportunities.
Foreign Minister Víctor Bisonó said the goal was to identify opportunities and translate the bilateral relationship into “resultados concretos,” while AMCHAMDR president Francesca Rainieri pointed to trade, investment and stronger public-private links as priorities. U.S. Ambassador Leah Campos also highlighted investment and stronger supply chains as areas for further growth.
The agenda included meetings with Google, Visa, the Inter-American Development Bank and JPMorgan, as well as discussions on manufacturing, nearshoring, critical minerals, energy, aviation, artificial intelligence and infrastructure.
For commercial real-estate investors, the focus is what could come after those discussions. New companies and expansions in the Dominican Republic could generate demand for offices, commercial services, retail and other business space, alongside the industrial and logistics facilities required by manufacturing and trade.
The delegation included representatives from companies such as Citi, Grupo Rica, INICIA, AES Dominicana, Grupo SID, Grupo Puntacana, Altice, Grupo Estrella and DP World, reflecting the range of sectors involved in the investment agenda.
The key indicator now is whether the week’s discussions lead to actual investments, new operations and business expansions. If they do, the resulting demand could extend beyond industrial property into the commercial markets surrounding these new business hubs.
